Since cupping this coffee in Kenya in January, we've been anxiously counting down the days until we could taste it again. We hoped it would arrive as amazing as it was tasting at origin and it 100% is! Upon brewing, a dynamic, layered sweetness overwhelms your palate with intense notes of raspberry, pink grapefruit, apple and black currant. As it cools, the cup is clean and refreshing, with a complex citrus acidity and heavy mouthfeel.
The Gaturiri Factory, located in the Nyeri region of Kenya, processes coffee from around 1,100 small producers. Gaturiri has gained a very good reputation for consistently producing top quality coffee with their emphases on cherry selection, proper washing and soaking and long, slow drying.
